Hey, I’m Malie Kokoro – but that’s not my real name. 😉 I chose this pen name with intention. “Mālie” is a Hawaiian word meaning calm and peace, while “Kokoro” comes from Japanese and signifies the mind – not the brain, but rather the heart and soul. Together, they symbolize a calm mind – a state of being fully present, free from distractions.

This idea is at the heart of my adult coloring books. A few years ago, I discovered meditation, and the sense of peace it brought into my life was indescribable. Coloring became one of my meditative practices – a way to immerse myself so deeply in a single activity that everything else fades away. In those moments, I experience my own Malie Kokoro.
